Welcome to the age of flat world navigators. I am at The Social Media Risk: Privacy and Governance Forum in Melbourne and over the last two days I’ve heard all the latest stats on social media use, the take-up by boards, the horror stories of companies not being prepared to react to social media commentary, the legal implications and the risks.
Anyone who knows me also knows there are certain topics which will lead me to some pretty impressive rants, whether it’s a comment regarding my addiction to Diet Coke (it’s not just a drink, it’s a lifestyle), the fact that my Arts degree is useless (look who has a job now suckers!) or that Glee and musicals are a drain on society in general (lies!).

Taurus CEO Sharon Williams spoke at the North Sydney Business Forum Thursday 23rd August 2012. Sharon was a part of a panel discussing everything from small business strategy to legal matters to branding, marketing, PR and social media. The free event was hosted by Natalie Moutia from the Success Women’s Network.
For some business owners, it is far worse than 2008 when the GFC began. Increasing “For Lease” signs are appearing in the high streets as long term business owners shut the doors because cashflow and access to cash from the usual sources, is grinding to a halt.
