My experience as a Taurus Academy© Intern was second to none!
Before I started my internship, I was unsure of the exact direction I wanted to go with my career post-university. All I knew is that I was interested in marketing but wasn’t sure if the practicality of it really would be for me. Upon completion of the TaurusAcademy© program, I can confidently say that I am excited to start a career in PR/Marketing in the near future! The fact that Taurus helped me realise this and has given me a clear career direction is what I found most valuable about the program.
Every day in the office was so exciting for me! The atmosphere was amazing, and the team always made me feel welcome. However, halfway through my internship, it was time to pivot. COVID-19 forced everyone at Taurus to adapt and work from home. This was a significant shift for me as I wasn’t sure how this would work as an intern. This doubt was quickly overruled with excitement as the team at Taurus effectively communicated with me and kept me in the loop with what was going on and how things would continue from now. I continued with the same responsibilities as I would have in the office which allowed me to apply the knowledge I have gained from my studies which I loved seeing overlap with the work I completed at Taurus.
Before Taurus, I had no experience with PR as this wasn’t a part of my degree. Interning with Taurus gave me great exposure to this area and has taught me so many skills such as media monitoring, populating briefing documents, accumulating media lists and so much more! I definitely wasn’t just there for coffee runs, I felt like I was a part of the team by assisting with real work.
One of the highlights of my internship was being able to learn from the CEO and Founder, Sharon Williams. I now understand the importance of establishing and maintaining your personal brand as well as how essential networking in the industry is.
I absolutely loved my internship at Taurus and would do it all over again in a heartbeat! Because of the amazing experience I had, I can’t wait to finish university and kick start my career in the exact same area. I highly recommend the TaurusAcademy© program for anyone who has an interest in the Marketing/PR area.
