The kids are alright. Or are they?

The advent of social media has dramatically changed access to information about us and can have a direct impact on our careers. Today, as students face an exciting but ever challenging career path, their personal brand has never been more open to exposure and examination. To help students navigate what can be a treacherous path, Sharon Williams will speak to students at Macquarie University on the importance of personal branding as guest lecturer of the Department of Media, Music, Communication and Cultural Studies.

As Miley Cyrus and Britney Spears well know, the speed and scope of social media has made it more crucial than ever to protect and manage your personal brand. Sharon will advise students on how to build a digital resume that will reflect their personal brand and open up greater career opportunities – not close them.

By sharing advice on blogging, networking and social media, Sharon hopes to give students the digital skills repertoire they need to prosper in this new and very different career environment.

Sharon will speak at Macquarie University on Tuesday, September 3 at noon. Follow Sharon on Twitter to receive live updates from the event.
