Sitting down and reflecting on my experiences here at Taurus Academy these past 3 months, I find myself overwhelmed with gratitude for this amazing journey that I have had the privilege of embarking on. From the moment I entered through those large glass doors to the bittersweet final day, every moment here at Taurus has been packed with new experiences, learning and most importantly growth.
Fresh out of high school the prospect of having a real job and entering the professional world seemed miles away, but now knee deep into my 3rd year of university studying a degree in communications and creative intelligence did it dawn on me that my time as a student was on the cusp of ending. With little experience apart from 5 years in the retail industry fate along with a little networking landed me an opportunity to build my professional experience at Taurus Academy.
Going in I had no idea what to expect, how to dress or even how to act but I was welcomed into a supporting community of inspiring women who taught me so much. At Taurus I felt appreciated and encouraged to be myself and express my true personality in numerous ways. Taurus fostered a safe space and built a community where I was encouraged to ask tons of questions, make mistakes, and learn from them, to build that resilient and independent mindset. Meeting and getting to work alongside our founder Sharon Williams, and the brilliant minds of Samantha Sakr and Emily Brex have been truly inspirational their wise words of wisdom and knowledge have become the catalysts for the new vision and positive outlook I have towards my future in marketing.
Before I started interning little did I know about the importance of building your own personal brand, characterising yourself within your professional environment. It was during my time at Taurus that I truly understood the significance of this idea. From observing the buzzing nature of life in the city and the seasoned professionals doing what they did best, witnessing how the unique personalities of the Taurus team shaped their means of communications with each other and their clients did I realise that personal branding is not just about creating a polished professional image but about authenticity and showcasing your strengths and expertise. This newfound understanding is one of the core takeaways from this experience for me, making me feel empowered to navigate the rest of my career with clarity, purpose and mostly importantly authenticity.
As I bid farewell to my time here at Taurus and prepare to embark on the next chapter of my journey, I carry with me this amazing knowledge not only about the complexities and wonders of the world of PR and marketing but knowledge that has helped me grow as a young person entering the professional arena. These lessons learned, skills gained, and connections forged during my time at Taurus have equipped me with the confidence and capability to thrive in this ever-changing industry. Whilst the road ahead may be uncertain, I am filled with excitement for the future prospects of my professional career grateful for the foundation that Taurus Academy laid for me during my internship.
